The admissions policy in Bristol enables every child to have three full years of infant schooling. Therefore, children whose fourth birthday falls on or before August 31 of any year would normally join the infant department at the start of the following autumn term. A child becomes of compulsory school age on reaching five years, but a parent is not legally required to send a child to school until the beginning of the term following the child’s fifth birthday. 

Parents must register their first choice of school with the local authority before January 15 in the year preceding the academic year the child starts school. 

The annual intake level (PAN), fixed by the local authority, is 30 per year group, making a total of 210 children when the school is full.
